I read a book before I came to Mexico. It had to do with working in foreign countries, and specifically the cultures and differences beween them and the USA. One example in the book I still rembmer was about a middle eastern student that was attending a US school. He remarked about how shocked he was when he asked a professor a question, and the professor replied, "I don't know." He said in his country a teacher would never admit that, and would lie if he did not know the answer to save respect. The concept of a teacher admitting he did not have the answer was a shock.

The UAG has its own culture and issues. They expect us to blindly trust them. Regardless of how mentally retarded this is to us that have huge amounts of money invested in out education, this is what they expect from us. This is not a Mexican thing, but a UAG thing. They are not going to change overnight.

Dear School Management,
Please come up with the answer. We have done nothing wrong. Please run to mexico government and explain to them. Make your program 4 years. We have spent money and time. What Ama does is important but what mexican government can do is more important.Mexican government has not finananced our our study. We have no obligation to serve 2 years. PLEASE do not waste our time. Tell us NOW.:confu sed: NOW

Medicodreamer, I can see the mexican government waving the one year of public service, but you gave no reason for them to give up the internship. According to mexico the titulo is your liscence for practice. They can't just give that away. Remember the system is set up like India and China where Medical School is started straight out of High School.

It would be great though. Imagine getting out of high school in the U.S. and applying to a mexican medical school. You could be an ECFMG in the U.S. at 23yo.

Besides the issues at UAG and the Mexican rules, how will this affect that "Match".

If the 2008 5th pathway match was lower than expected, what are the match chances without the 5th ? Will, UAG students be like any other school from a foreign country even if we pass step1 or step2 and treated the same?

If we cannot get a match, then UAG is DEAD, The school has to act before a bad situation gets worse.

If UAG is run like a business they are not on the leading edge. No matter what the UAG history is, it is soon forgotten in the current world and economic situation. We are all stock holders, but can we do anything to save the company and investments. Does UAG make enough from the NON-INTERNATIONAL (national) program to keep the school open.

Since we cannot transfer to the "national" program from the "international" program, no real reason exists for the rules to be the same when it comes to the "international program". UAG and its lawers need to think about this, do not blame the US for the situation. IF UAG WAS EVER ON THE LEADING EDGE THEY NEED TO DO IT AGAIN AND FIX IT HERE IN MEXICO.

MD completion.

I'm surprised a few Carribean Medical Schools haven't started an M.D. completion program for all these 5th pathway certificate holders to transfer into and complete a Doctor of Medicine degree subsequently allowing them to apply for ECFMG certification.

It looks like UHSA has a post graduate program in Tropical Medicine that DO's take to be simultaneously awarded an MD at completion. Does anyone know if they would accept 5th pathway certified folks as well?

The UAG is very alive. However, it has just made the second most retarded Public Relations move in world history (after G. W. Bush).
