Well I know some people from the caribbean schools and India. Well the one in the caribbean can do a lot of rotations in the US. She did some in Oakland, California and in Chicago. I am not sure if this has to do with the abolishment of the 5th Pathway.
Now for the ECFMG is not that hard at all! Just one extra year. The internship can be done in some of the big hospitals anywhere in Mexico. Well they are some restrictions due to some politics but pretty much any IMSS or SSA will allowed you to do the intership. Other areas that UAG has treaties with is some hospitals in the US and other parts of the world like Spain. I know of a few that went to Spain to do the Internado. Now if you don't have a Titulo ECFMG will not certify you!! No Titulo no trabajo in California either(ECFMG route that is)!! the requirements very according to each countries requirements licensature. A couple friends from India had to do some extra paperwork than that required to Mexican graduates. TRue a lot depends on how fast the school does the mailing of paperwork for you. UAG is very good at it!!!!!!!!!!! A girl that went to the UKRAINE for medical school was done with her test in time but the school was taking their time. I think she had to give a "mordida" to speed up the process. Corruption almost everywhere! Now by law in Mexico you have to do Servicio Social. Why do graduates from UAG have to do it? I don't know. It was originally intended for students as a way to pay back the goverment for the free education they had received. Obviously if you are a graduate from UAG or other private medical school from Mexico your education was not Free! But back to the subject. You can do your Servicio Social anywhere in Mexico pretty much. IN the city or the desert!!!!!! Depends on your GPA or where you choose!! If you are not use to living in a small town don't choose a town with a population less than 50,000! Pretty much anything of 1000 is very isolated. But if you choose a rural desert I can hook you up with a satelite TV dish hehehe!! Now for the examen profesional you can do it at the end of the internado, middle of servicio or end of servicio. The test is not as challenging as the USMLE but if you have studied throught the whole 4 years it should not be a problem at all!!!!! when you complete the Servicio and have passed the test, a few months later you will get your titulo and UAG will process your cedula for you!! This is a big plus!! Is a big hassle trying to do it on your own. NOw if you loose the Titulo well you are SOL!! It is irreplaceable!!!!!!! Now while during the Internado and servicio you can study your butt off for any of the USMLE's you have not passed or Step 3 if you choose!! Now the internado is different in each hospitals. In some you are almost doing the work of a Resident and in some you are, well just an intern. The guy that brings this, bring that, and stuff like that. You get pimped by the Residents or attending Physicians!! If things dont work out for the 5th pathway, maybe a list of the good hospitals where you can do the internado can be made. If your jsut want to get it over with and not do anything Hospital de el Carmen there in Guadalajara is good or Hospital Espanol and ABC in Mexico are good!! Why the abolishment of the 5ht. pathway? Who knows why? I am not sure if caribbean schools do intership or the ones in the Ukraine do too. But all the ones in Latin American do Internado and Servicio Social!!!!!! But remember if you do the ECFMG route no Titulo no certification, No titulo no trabajo in California. In California you actually have to turn in the original Titulo to the offices in Sacramento!!!! They will keep it for about two weeks and will keep the notarized photocopies!! Now the letter, wel it could have been done better!! What is the background of Dr Pan? Maybe another lobby group should be created again!! |

intern year
most of the carrb schools have no intern year, after 4-5 semesters u are back in the US for a semester, then its board time, also many do not allow u to go on to clinicals without the passing the boards. But I think u awnsered my question, its the laws of the country of school origin that determine the intern year, so my guess is the carrb governments do not require this and mexico does

Which school allows someone to go to Oakland, CA? What hospital? |
