Talking Pets?

Hi All! It's been a while since I've posted on here. I missed this board. Anyway, here is a question I've been trying to answer for awhile now, and so far, there has been no success. Having a pet while in medical school...is this a good idea? Basically, I want to know what the pros and the cons are. For those who have pets (and by pets I mean small mammals, not Brine Shrimp!), what are the plus sides and are there any down sides? For those who don't have them, would you consider getting one later on? Why or why not? Well, thanks again to everyone and good luck studying for those exams!

Sea Monkeys rule

No pets here, but they are common. I just made friends instead :P

Are you bring existing ones, or new ones just for school? If you do not have one, I would not get one now. If you have one, bring it. It cost $ and time, but depends on you.

Nope, I would be buying a new one. <sigh> I think I might just wait to get one until later...let's see, 6 years from now. Oh, you are right, Sea Monkeys rule. I had them for about a year doing a senior thesis in high school. They were my research project. Everytime someone would come over, they would wonder where the fish were and why theres was a lot of garbage floating in the aquarium. Poor tiny things. I can still tell which ones are males and females. Guess I'll buy some Sea Monkeys to keep me company...only problem is, I don't think I can take them on the plane with me.

Actually, that was from my senior thesis in high school. Gosh, that was a long time ago. Let's see...age...I'm in my mid twenties. Why do you want to know?

Put the sea monkeys in a thermos bottle, then go to a fish store and get some oxygen tablets. Put 1/2 of one in the bottle every 1.5 hours. If you still weant a pet, get one here. Cheaper and some are more exotic (birds, lizards, etc).

I think I read your post wrong because I thought you just barely graduated from high school two years ago. The reason why I asked is that 5th pathway requires you to be a graduated of a us accredited college. If you just finished two years of college, then you might have trouble with the program.
After rereading your post, I just realized my mistake.

I have two rabbits that I bought here. But I need the yard to keep them. It would be unfair to keep such a pet in a big apartment in a cage.

I would suggest a cat. You can study more at home.

Dogs seem to take a lot of work and ar harder to travel with when you go home. It might be easier to get someone to take your cat or kennel it.

My cleaning lady was nice enough to take my rabbits for 10 days but she had been my cleaning lady for a year before I asked.

I know someone who had rats. We killed one taking it back to the states. Totally by accident. (That is another Story)

Most landlords will make you say no pets but I think that mostly refers to dogs here.

Oh, and brush up on your secondary meaning in spanish vocabulary.

mariposa - is also a fairy or a queer
mariposiar is to flit around and be inconstant, or to be a fairy or queer.

Ask ackackackack about bad name.
lithuania handy men walk through the streets yelling, in lithuanian "acgt, acgt," acgt, acgt." It actually means take advantage of me I am a dumb mechanic.
