Applebees Not Safe

The restaurant Applebees near the main campus is on the banned list for now.

There have been repeated cases of cars being burglarized here. The management seems to not be doing anything to make the parking lot safe. Their only action is having a sign stating that they are not resposible for theft.

The cars have all had backpacks stolen from the vehicles. All the vehicles have been entered the same way, by removing the outer plate cover to the key lock in the door so that the mechanism can be rotated to unlock the door.

This place is a haven for some thief, so eat at your own risk here.

true. The same thing happened this week to one of our 1st semester students. I thought this place has a "secure" parking; well I guess they "se-cure" the cars very well in there. I am telling you people, eat at home and save the headache

Another option is to take a cab.

Thank you for this info! I have eaten at that Applebee's 3 times in the last two weeks. I will take a cab for now on, if I go there.....or else I'll leave my car as bait and wait around the corner with my glock.

I am in the same position as bentonmedicine - shame too, some of the food was pricey but good.

I am installing a 2-way paging alarm today, so if I did go there, it would page me of a break-in (eBay $100 - $250). However, this is also about principle. The restaurant knows there is a danger, and does not warn the customers, nor do they do anything about it. Thus, it is off my list of places to go forever.

If you like the food, there is another one on Americas and Providencia.

another option is park in the school or at parking across the street by the KFK; there is a vigilante there all the time.

I actually have an alarm like that, but the table I get seated at might be just out of range. (it goes about 100 yards without any obstructions in the way) You know the table service there was about the best I've seen in this city so far, and that's why I would keep going there. Comparing it to the Applebee's in Galeria's or the Chili's I've been to....where you have to call them to get a re-fill, or else the restaurants are just too busy with other customers to provide good service. Yet, they could easily get a guard out there for the prices they charge.
