If you said it is started by one of the leanos, then you have to clarify which leano you are talking about because I believe the leanos have all of their aunts, uncles, cousins, grandkids, inlaws and concubines all over uag.
so you are telling me that you can go to any mexican university, do four years and then do 5th pathway without receiving any official paper from the university? the UAG can easily deny trascripts or any legal documents that you havent completed its program given that they require internado and social service to "complete" their program.

by the way, students that go to 5th pathway receive a diploma of "medico cirujano" at the end of 8th semester and this is the one that is shown + USMLE passing scoresto the 5th pathway program according to some students already there.

1) I am only an incoming freshman for january of 2008, but I am just a person who likes to base my information on written facts.
2) Unless uag wants to lose probably about 90% of its future american students, I do not see the possibilbity of the Leanos trying to prevent the students from applying to 5th pathway. When I was in san antonio, the words that irritated the director of admission most were "caribbean medical schools".
3) According to the descriptions by ama, 5th pathway is not exclusively for uag students because it is for people who meet the requirements.
4) If the rumor is true, I would probably go ROSS pretty soon. 3.5 years comparing to 5 years and you get back to us in 1.5 years. Man, that is a much better deal than getting stuck in mexico for 6 years.

we need somebody that has actually gone through the process of applying to 5th pathway and explain to us what is really needed from the school to apply to this program instead of basing all this in website information that is not really clear on the actual process of applying but just list the "requirements" and "eligibility". If it is so easy to get in, how come only 1% of active doctors in the US followed this path. Futhermore, why do IMGs (not FMGs) need to do SS and Internado in any latin american medical school instead of following east2west "fact" to do only the first 4 years and then applying to 5th pathway disregarding any paperwork from the university because "they cant stop you". Do you see my point man!!! Your argument is based on information that is only descriptive on who can apply but it doesnt breakdown the "actual" process of application and paperwork needed. Like I said, we need somebody with experience on this process.

I agree. Sometimes prospective students tend to "fall" into that trap. they tend to do a lot of research about the school and "other" possibilities and think they know it all. One of them was our RIP Cabrillo member. After all the research and time spent, you get here and the research goes to hell

No. That is not the political structure here. The top never talks to the bottom here. It gets handed to the next lower person. It is a sin for the top people to talk to bottom-feeding students.

I cannot say that the rumor is false. We all appriciate information about any rumors (especially like this one) because the UAG would let students burn to death before telling them that the school was on fire. They simply do not communicate here, so rumors are VERY important here.

Still, if I had to put a bet on this one, I would bet that it is false. However, like all rumors, there is a basis somewhere, which makes me curious...

maybe they made an exception given the importance of the information. I am still waiting on this person to call me. He was supposed to be there and heard it all.
