how many times did you visit/ did you visit before applying?

Greetings all!
I'm wondering how many times or if people visited the campus/area before applying. I would like to visit before I apply, to check out the area, see how things might be etc...I'm wondering if others did the same, or did you just check it out when you interviewed (if you interviewed on campus).

Thanks!
Andrea

Andrea,

I visited Guadalajara with my family before applying. I wanted to know how life in Mexico would be before making the commitment. You can set up an interview/visit with the San Antonio office. I strongly suggest visiting the school so that way you and your family won't have any surprises upon arrival.

visiting Mexico/UAG

uagdoc,
How long did you stay? What kind of stuff did you do to get a feel for the area?

I think the time for me to go would be this summer.. it would be good to see how hot it really gets down there...

I'd definitely like to tour the facilities before applying, as well as see what the culture in the area is like.

I was thinking a week might be all I could go for, due to schedules and stuff...what do you think is optimal?

Thanks again for all the great info.
Andrea

I stayed for a week. It is a very short time but it gave me an idea about living conditions, schools ... Guadalajara never gets really hot. The weather is great just some rain during the summer. Talk to students from the school specially from 3rd year. They have a experienced 3 years in Mexico so they can tell you what to expect. Visit the ICB(1st 2 years), Hospital Angel Leano(3rd and 4th year), the Mexican hospitals and the school clinics. Try to visit during the semester so you can attend some lectures. It will give you a better feel rather than take only people's opinion from this forum. I did some research before attending the school and I would suggest to you to do the same.

Take care,

UAGDoc
