Intec vs Unibe
I have been snooping around the internet and i have heard alot about INTEC (besides the fact that all of the courses are in spanish) it is a very good choice, Can anybody who has more experience on the subject of medical schools say what would be a better choice if it were not for the language factor where would one get a better education Unibe or INTEC. Would it be safe to say that these are the two best medical schools in the Dominican Republic at the moment. and one other thing I know that the GPA requirement for Unibe is 2.5 on a scale of 4.0 but what is the GPA requirement for Intec.
Thank you and god bless, Castillo |

hi there,
if spanish if not a problem then intec is a good choice. as it is also recognized by California, which is a plus. IF i had a choice i would go to UNIBE because the exams are in english and it is recognized by 48 states ( the only states does not recognize UNIBE as for now are -cali and idaho) which is good enough for me. But again if u have came down to these two choice, then your only question will be spanish against english classes, and how important is cali in making your decision. as for unibe, herez a link that might help you: http://www.angelfire.com/cantina/uni...e_they_now.htm again this is my opinion and some might not agree, but definitely i am against spending more than $100K on schools outside US (so i think DR and some other are very good choice in that respect also) take care, vishu710 |

Language and cost are really the two factors to consider when deciding between the two schools, unless you have your heart set on practicing in either idaho o california. The GPA entrance requirements are comparable at INTEC. UNIBE costs about $4-5,000 more per year than INTEC. Other than that both schools are comparable save for the language of instruction.
Take care and God Bless. Ozzie |

unibe vs. intec
I advice you the english used in unibe is esol 1 VERY BADLY SPOKEN ENGLISH. SO IF YOU SPEAK SPANISH GO TO INTEC OR UNIBE´´S SPANISH PROGRAM YOU WILL LEARN MORE! INTEC IS A TOUGH SCHOOL, AND I BELIEVE THAT TOUGH SCHOOLS HELP YOU LEARN!

Spanish entrance exam at INTEC
Hi,
Yeah there is a spanish entrance exam in INTEC for non-native speakers of the language. I didnt really know that much spanish when i decided to apply to INTEC. I did 4 months of spanish , with a private tutor in my country (Kenya). Then hopped on a plane (actually 3!!) and came to Santo Domingo (huge gamble!) did 1 month at a spanish school here. I sat the exam, did really well! I also had an interview with the Dean of Medicine's office, again to show that I really had control of the language! Aced that too, and two days later they told me I was accepted! Huge gamble had paid off. The entrance exam was pretty straight forward, read the passage and answer the questions type exam. And then at the end there was an essay question. Just being here for those 2 months before school started, my conversational spanish improved alot! Now i'm almost done with my 3rd semester here. Its alot of work (have to learn things very quickly), but so far so good. I have a couple of posts on the forum about my experiences when i first got here. Ciao |
