The Dominican Republic is a great place, it is quite safe, just gotta be a little smart and stay away from the rough neighborhoods ( as in any city). The people are mostly very nice and friendly. As far as medical school is concerned, only go to UNIBE if you don't have any other options. There are better Carribean medical schools, the ones that offer clinicals in US. All the best........... |

The Dominican Republic has many medical schools. Of course, most of them are taught in spanish and some of the better ones are in spanish so it depends on what you are trying to accomplish.
UNIBE is probably one of the better English teaching one . UTESA is another english teaching medical school. http://www.utesa.edu/webutesa/home.htm. As for Safety, learn much about the country from friends, staff and the university faculty before you go exploring on your own. |

dominican schools
None of the schools in the dominican republic are a good choice, but if you are extremelly poor and can afford ROss or Granada go to Pontificia universidad catolica madre y maestra in santiago they just changed their curriculum to traditional system, not modular... It is a great city and the people in this part of the country are very friendly... JUST KEEP IN MIND THAT YOU CAN ONLY DO ONE CLINICAL ROTATION IN THE STATES OR PUERTO RICO IF YOU ATTEND ANY MEDICAL SCHOOL IN DOMINICAN REPUBLIC. DON´T LET ANY SCHOOL ADVISOR FOOL YOU ITS ONLY ONE ROTATTION ACCORDING TO CONES LAWS!

unibe english program
Unibe´s english class are very badly taught and the profesors can hardly speak the language. if you are going to unibe attend the spanish classes which are a lot better taught! They charge the same. Most english professors don´t go to class and they shorten the material so they don´t have to speak the english language....
