UNIBE Med 1 or semester 5 Books.
There are a few of us that had no help at all. It was a struggle. We study for 6 hours M-F and 12 hours on the weekend. And we speak no spanish, no connections in DR, PR. I'm proud of us, we have achieved higher grades than the students that had it easy. And most important, don't worry about the cheating. Because the cheaters end up begging for points to pass, pass with a C or just fail. I hope the list is useful for someone.
I just finished 1st semester of Med school. Some courses have books listed in the curriculum. Others don’t. I have listed what is in there, as well as what some students used. Just remember it is not required for you to get any of these. You can purchase photo copy notes except for Spanish. Also, remember that Histology and Anatomy you need good atlases. For those of you who plan on photocopying atlases, think again. Especially Histology, you need to identify color slides. I did better than all the people that spent a lot for lab, had connections from passed students or even those that had all photos of all slides. In fact many people, came to me to get my lab notes. There are 20 chapters. I went to all the top medical school sites and made my notes from there lab section. So I pulled an A without a digital camera, digital camcorder, vhs tapes or ever using any photos from that lab. I know you wondering what is the big deal about lab, since it is only 30%. You don’t pass lab, you cannot pass the course. These are university rules. Just remember that labs are 30%. Final for Histology and Anatomy are 40%. Don’t pass labs, you cannot pass the course. Histo 1st partial is worth 30%. Anatomy 1st and 2nd partials are worth 30%. Bioche lab is 30%. Mole section is 20% and remaining Biochem is 50%. Embryology: 1. The Developing Human- ***** Moore W.B. Saunders 2. Medical Embryology- Langman Biochemistry: No books listed in Curriculum. 3rd Edition Lippincott Illustrated Review was used. Get the latest. Some folks also used BRS or NMS Biochemistry Review. Anatomy: Professor does not lecture from a book. Curriculum has Anatomy- Snell. Some used Snell. Others used Clinical Oriented Anatomy- Moore. Others used Mini Moore. Some used none. Some bought review books like NMS, BRS, High Yield. Curriculum has Basic Atlas- B. Wolfman, Kueger & Meschan Some used Atlas of Human Anatomy- Netter. Some used Color Atlas of Anatomy- Rohen. Looks like some cadavers. CD atlas used as well. Histology: Professor reads at least 10 books before coming to class. I inherited a lot of books and she has them all. For some topics, it came directly from BRS. What is important here is good Atlases. Biostatistics: Photocopy notes Spanish: Books purchased through language department. Most students will be selling their books. You cannot make copies of these books. They are from Spain. Orientation: Photocopy notes if you want. Good luck with your plans. Hibiscus |

Books
You guys don't have to buy any of this. You can purchase the type notes. A few of us preferred the above stuff to type notes.
Also you will have a new biochem professor and not sure what he is going to use. Hibiscus |
