you personally seemed to have had a very hard time there , perhaps no more than others but still carry this emotional onus to this day. I believe it is exaggerated and exacerbated by some psychological issues you personally have. Lots of my amigos suffered humiliation there, way back in 1976-1980 it wasnt even an official school with campus. It was hell! but we were warriors, fought back by studying, passing that ECFMG and voila! that the DR is not safe- I fully disagree emphasizing that for the last 30 years I have been everywhere in the DR at all times of the night with my white caucasion blue eyed blonde wife and never not once have i ever been threatened in the least. The dominicans are in my opinion up there as the most friendliest kindest people in the world and I have met people from all over the 3rd and 4th world. {{ i was even married to a lovely DR lady for a while and still maintain friendships there}}. students losing their lives trying to achieve a degree??? please clarify this. this is defamatory to such a degree it borders on absurdity unless we all know the facts.... which i doubt have any validity. paying for medical school. ask a local from Ross, st georges, mexico, etc locals are poor! they should not be expected to pay what americans pay. in the UCE, locals pay about 150-200 a year ( it might be a little higher) to get angry at that issue that you are being taken for granted because you come from the richest country in the world is IMHO another absurdity. I wanted that degree more than anything, i fought for it, i paid 1300 a semester while the Dominicans paid 30 dollars and i understood it. These schools are not for LOCALS! do you get that. they are businesses! they make doctors but they make money. Dominicans earn on the average 30-60 dollars a month.. enough said. you never pay twice for anything there. you go to a supermarket, a mercado, a shoe store, a salon de belleza -beauty shop you pay the price on the wall. YOU ARE WRONG! you are entitled to your emotions and i daresay your hatred, but not to distort the truth to debase the DR. and you have severely distorted the truth here. Maybe your hatred for the DR helps get you thru life. that is sad! I find the opposite feeling lends itself to a lifetime of both bad and good memories and experiences i had there but doesnt stop me from going back there once or twice a year. the wife wants to retire there!!!!! |

Intec
