I went to intec and transferred later to uce because intec had problems with us loan authorities. UCE has been established for many years and has graduated tons of MDs that are now practicing in US. UCE's owner is powerful politician and UCE takes very good care of their MD students. UCE doesn't have all the pretty facilities like unibe, but it is one of the most well known and established med schools in carribean. Intec is an engineering and business school. Before I went there and during my time there, they had discussions about closing down the "departamento de salud" because school was losing money. Then, like I said previously, Intec's loan officer got busted approving loans for students from other universities and this put my money at risk. UCE, I would say, is not the prettiest school, but it gets the job done. UNIBE was too expensive for me and living in the capital was much more expensive and you will have to pay those loans back. Plus, I've heard that UNIBE has a lot of "hidden costs" that they won't tell you up front. Personally speaking, life in the capital wasn't condusive to studying and you should begin to study for boards and get them out of the way asap.

Basis for loan allegations?
ANJMT,
I'm not sure what your loan experience was at INTEC but they've been receiving federal loans since the 80's and have never lost their loan status. The school's loan officer follows federal regulations governing dispersal and emission of stafford loans to the T. Unless you have insufficient credits to qualify for graduate stafford loans and have exhausted your undergraduate loan limits I can't see what problems you could have had with loans at INTEC. In fact the school just recently modified their definition of their academic year to match UNIBEs so that students would be able to recieve more loan money in a calendar year, we at INTEC now receive almost 25,000 per calendar year. I'm very curious as to what your loan troubles were and on what information you're basing your allegations that our loan officer was involved loan dispersal improprieties of any kind. Take care and God Bless Ozzie. |

I'll repeat, electing to study in UCE vs INTEC is equivalent to choosing to spend $5,000 more per year to receive approximately the same education in a town that leaves much to be desired. Whether that's a "bad" option is up to the individual making the choice.
Take care and God Bless Ozzie |

Don't go to dominican republic you will have a hard time, it is not an easy country or a safe one to live at... I have met a lot of students who lost their lives trying to achieve a Medical degree at D.R.. About saving money that is a relative thing... Dominicans see you as a foreigner so you pay twice for everything, and 5 times more than a native for your so called "medical education".. My advice go to ross, auc, St.george or even costa rica... just don't want any collegue to go thru the hell i went thru!!!!!!
!Study hard and you will suceed! |
