The Island
Yes the Island. We had to do nnumerous visits to the bateys during our schooling. It was truely a wake up call. These poor people are on the edge of survival! I would be intersted in seeing some of your PIC's.

Why all this antagonism?!
the forums here produce a lot of displaced anger and frustration.
I speak of those who are studying medicine now or who like myself did and know whats its like Doing it not talking about it! Its almost inhumane studying medicine, let alone in the DR/foreign language nation. One lives eats dreams and is consumed by exams, books, folletos, classes, studying studying and more studying. Life stops! nothing else matters... only that 4-5years away day when you finally walk out of there with your diploma, the boards, the letter accepting you for your residency. Short of that we basically strive and suffer and sweat and curse and worry and question and really live in doubt if we are in the right school or are we gonna finish this all successfully. Its more pressure than most human beings have to endure. This artificial environment we succumb to and live in takes 8-9 years of our life and steals them from us. We study things we will never ever ever ever ever need to know in the future. We memorize use mnemonics make diagrams lists whatever we can to retain the information until that exam is over! Studying medicine for anyone ( just ask most) is a prison sentence until you make it to that licensing exam. Thus, all this bickering is normal. It is a venting from the robotic disciplined craziness one goes thru day after day after day after day to become a physician. The hard truth is you dont become a physician until you really finish your residency. Thats when you learn to take responsibility, and act on your own decisions. the road is so long!!!!! |

Medical college in la RD was a great memorable time of my life shared with classmates from around the world. You must study a lot to learn the volume of material, anywhere but it helps if the people and environment are conducive and positive Last edited by estudiante; 10-10-2005 at 03:08 AM. |
