Hello,
In order to finance here you have to have a cedula, in other words you have to be a resident. In the event that you're not a resident you have to have a dominican cosigner. Both are hard to come by. But you can get a decent old car for a under 2 grand if you're lucky. However, if you're gonna be living in San Pedro I don't think you'll have much use for a car. It's a small town and you'll be able to get around fine on foot or taxis or publicos. Newer cars are VERY expensive here, the change of the dollar has madde those kind of big ticket items that are imported, very expensive for those of us buying in dollars. Take care and God Bless. Ozzie. |

save yourself the pain
dont drive here. due to inconviniences of carro publicos, huge holes from open swers, lack of people knwoing how to walk, and pasola drivings thinking they are pick up trucks: i have crashed a sports car, a pick up, and a sedan. save yourself the hassel. there is no insurance in this country. in one accident the guy left and bought some insurance for his car and came back before the cops even got there. i was screwed every time. just take carro publicos!
