510 points So turns out California state disapproved UTESA twice, first in 1985 and then in 1997. So no UTESA grad can practice medicine in California.

510 points I went to UTESA back in the early 80s ,graduated in June 1985 and started residency in July. I had passed the ECFMG exam the year before. Most of my friends also obtained residencies although some were made to jump through some hoops before getting there license. Some states requires one year of residency other wanted a completed residency before they'd issue a medical license . A few said no but would reciprocate a license from another state. I'm not really current on what's going on now , you'd have to contacts the individual state medical board to find what they want.
510 points Is utesa approved by Texas medical board?
All I've heard lately about UTESA is that it's an utter disaster. A real shame as it was considered one of the better medical school programs in the DR. If you're trying to save money and go to a reputable med school in the DR your best bet is to go to la UASD. If not, don't waste your time and go to UNIBE, UCE, or INTEC (probably in that order).
510 points Universidad Tecnologico De Santiago ( UTESA )

I went to UTESA,graduated in 1985, passed ECFMG one year prior to my graduation. Completed residency and Fellowship. Many of my classmates have done the same.
I know very good doctors that came from UTESA. Even some of my very own professors. I am sorry if I offended anyone, and I don't mean to disrespect anyone. Things tend to change over the years, and unfortunately, in economies of the third world nothing can be certain. I suggest anyone considering UTESA today to do their research. I am sure that today the best and most reliable medical schools in the DR are schools such as UNIBE, UCE, and INTEC. After that maybe PUCMM and La UASD.
1985 is a while back Dr. Gamal. Anything other than these universities for medicine in the DR today, and it's taking a chance. Thanks and good luck everyone!!
