Dr. Najeeb’s premise is “if one knows the BASIC CONCEPTS, they can pass any test.” To me, that makes a great deal of sense. He commented that he could teach my high school grandson, renal physiology. I have attended his guest lectures and feel this is a true statement and he actually could teach him renal physiology (not an easy subject).

If he passes the USMLE, does that mean you will pass? If he failed the USMLE does that mean you will also fail?

As stated previously, he is in Academic Medicine and has no intention of practicing or living in the USA. My question then, would you invest $2,600.00+ U.S. Dollars in something (USMLE examination fees) you never intended to use? I know I would not.


If you have questions about his skill/ability as a teacher my advice is to personally check him out. He offers two or three sessions free for those who are unsure if his course is what they expected. The proverbial test drive before you buy. I was impressed with his teaching ability and I am confident you will be also.

Just this evening I had the pleasure to speak with Dr. Najeeb and was updated on the progress and future plans. One of the plans that should be of tremendous interest is his offering courses to PRE-MED students all four semesters FOR FREE. In doing this he feels he will lay a good foundation for the students to begin the medical program well prepared and inculcate good study habits and schedules.

Secondly, all SINGLE mothers in Medical School may attend the course for FREE. The entire course for FREE.
By Spring 2008 there will be some high tech computer type changes in the program and will be able to facilitate the students more effectively.

Guys,, I barely post anything on this forum. But it really seemed necessary to write a little about Dr. Najeeb's way of teaching. The best teacher so far I have found here in DR, he makes things so simple!!!, so pleasant to learn,,, is worth every penny!!!

Anyways,,, please,, please, if there is any pre-med student reading at this. JOIN Dr. Najeeb's course, the sooner the better, it will give you a broad base of the basic concepts of medicine, and it will make your life much easier once in medicine (remember your pre-med months are free).

And if you're in med already,,,,, well buddy, you're late already, (does USMLE's ring anything??????).... Exactly,,, my best recomendation to any medical student that I can give....

How can you teach something you haven't gone through yourself?

Dr. Najeeb is planning on expanding to the United States. How do you think it will fit in with other Americans looking for help with the exam? If his competition exposes the fact he is not an MD and that he has not taken his USMLE's, he's finished.

I wish nothing but the best for Dr. Najeeb. I think he is a wonderful person and a very gifted teacher. He loves what he does and that's what makes his teaching so good.

I WANT TO CLARIFY that this is only my opinion and everything I have to say about the man and his teaching methods are VERY positive. I would reccomend him to all medical students looking for help in passing step 1.

Taking Step 1 will only benefit his business in the longrun. The $2600 he needs to dish out to take his exam is small potatoes compared to the money he could make by passing the exam and appearing more credible to medical students here in the DR and back in the US.

You exhibit your lack of knowledge of the British Medical Education System. Graduate physicians of the British System (of which Pakistan is one) receive a degree MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery) NOT an M.D. degree such as conferred by other systems, including America and Canada. Dr. Najeeb is a fully qualified graduate physician from King Edward Medical College in Lahore, Pakistan.

This may come as a great surprise to you but many of the teachers in various review programs are subject specialists (PhD) and NOT M.D.s and they do exceptional jobs in their particular field, in spite of the fact they have not taken, nor are they eligible to take, the USMLE. Does one have to be a certified FAA pilot prior to teaching students aerodynamics?
Dr. Najeeb is not “teaching you” to take and pass the USMLE. He is trying to give you a foundation in the basic subjects to enable you to pass any exam that you are required to take in your medical career. I might add at this point that many other programs offer “review” courses. How can you review something you did not learn in the first place? Understanding the basics of the various subjects is essential to the learning process.

And not only is there plans to expand to United States but also England, Australia and other points of the English Speaking Union. While in Pakistan he prepared many students for their credentials in England.

To some, it may appear more credible to take and pass the USMLE if you plan to teach, however, I disagree. I don’t think passing the USMLE gives you any more credibility than those PhD’s who teach the same material but are ineligible for the USMLE.
What sets Dr. Najeeb apart from the others is the fact he has a unique gift for teaching and explaining difficult subjects. His efforts have been rewarded, after only a year, by the enrollment of 200 students. I might add, some very satisfied students.

dr. holbrook has basically stated everything i could think of to explain dr. najeeb's lectures. but i would like to add that, no matter which route one chooses to take in terms of studying and preparing for the steps, its the individual that has to put in the effort. dr. Najeeb is a tool to help understand the sometimes complicated medical language in textbooks. I've been going to his center for about 6 months now and things just stick when i watch his lectures. So when i review something from first aid, i can literally visualize his drawings and funny mnemonics and things make more sense.
I am also using the kaplan books along with my subjects but again, thats a review. and you cannot review something you did not learn...dr. najeeb helps you learn the basics. i would recommend him to anyone interested in understanding the foundations of medicine.
I have known a few skeptics in my class but after they viewed just one of his lectures, they signed up right away. I don't get paid to say this lol
