UNIBE Gym

Another heads up, I was told early last week that the gym would open this Monday because it was being cleaned, today I found out that the gym now is closed indefinitely due to renovations. I found a gym right on 27th st. but it's a little expensive, 250$ for one day membership 1900 for a month. I hope they open soon because I can't afford this.

Tahaa, heres a cheaper alternative!

I live in SPDM, here the GYM fees are only 500 pesos, but as it is far from where I stay, I bought my own equiptment from MOLINA, Santo Domingo.

I bought weights of 5 kilo each for around 535 pesos.I bought 8 of them.A barbell will cost you around 1400.

I have a wooden bench, which was given by the land lord.So for 5500 pesos I am all set.For cardio I am doing the US Marine work out, which you can down load from the net.

GL amigo.

Hey SWATDOC,
I dont have a car, so went by ASTRAPU from SPDM.
I got down at 27th February park, and walked into the CONDE facing market. After the 3rd crossing , it is on your right.

Actually the shop is MOLIN, without the A, my bad.

They also have a branch in the CHINA TOWN(#) area of Santo Domingo, opposite a big super market, named La Sirena.
(#China Town is on your left as you take the Astrapu, just 3 mins before you hit 27th Feb park, the COBRADOR in the bus will help you alight if you tell him China town. But you probably have a car.Unfortunately, I dont know directions to guide you, except the Astrapu ones.)

Actually La Sirena sells weights too ,but they dont have much variety, their tel is 809-2213232, they too are in China town.Actuallty if you call La Sirena, and ask for directions, you will land just opposite the China town MOLIN branch.
Also Jumbo sells weights in SPDM, but you probably know that already
GL

Awesome, thanks for the info....

Yeah, Jumbo has weights too but they are overpriced and never have what I need. Then again, I think that applies to everything I ever look for in Jumbo!

There are some waves to be found off the malecon and other parts of the island.

We paddled out off the malecon during the days after hurricane david hit. It was like sunset beach on a big day. there are outside reefs that break when it gets big. excellent shape. the current isn't as strong as sunset beach luckily.

Indefinitely? Lol.. that's not true. They told me 2 weeks today which is more like a month for them.

If you live close and you like to run, try the Teatro Nacional. A lot of people run out there from school including myself in the afternoons. Plus you beat all the exhaust fumes from the malecon & 27.

Waves

Hey if anybody is ever interested in waves give me a pm, I surf all over. Most of the time I'm always looking over my shoulder because its scary to surf alone at some of these places.
