I will be attending UNIBE. When are you starting UCE? Is it far from UNIBE? We could still be friends.

Hey Liz!

I'm from Miami starting at UNIBE this January! I sent you an e-mail. Anybody else starting starting in Jan 07 is welcome to e-mail me as well: xramos@presgar.com

I also visited Santo Domingo last week. I really liked the campus and everyone there treated me really professional.

Good luck to all.

Xavier

Hey Cubanito76 How are you? I am not actually from Miami, but I spend 3 years there, I was in the Army and I am thinking of starting at UNIBE in Jan 07. There is a couple of things that got me doubding a little bit. I haven`t heard a lot of good things from people back in the States when it comes the time to apply for a residency spot, being an IMG. What do you think? Did you like Sto. Domingo?

Let me know you can PM me at pharm2009@hotmail.com if you want..

Thanks.

If you are going to be a mediocre student and just get by, you will likely have a difficult time securing a favored residency. The fact that you will be an IMG certainly will not help. However, if you are a dedicated and motivated student who will graduate with good grades, good USMLE scores and the good amount of hands-on experience you will receive in the D.R., then securing a residency should not be an issue. My university lists over 3000 IMG who have secured residencies since its inception in both the USA and Puerto Rico and a couple of other countries. Of course, there are some hospitals, some adminstrators and some uber-competitive residencies that just wont give you a chance, BUT, I think the outlook is not as bleak as one may lead you to believe...

Good luck and Hoo-yah!
