Dom Rep Med Schools & Texas
With the help of another thread, I found this ...
Schools Whose Graduates Do Not Have To Prove Substantial Equivalence Of Their Education 30800 DOMINICAN REPUBLIC 30801 UNIV AUTONOMA DE SANTO DOMINGO, SANTO DOMINGO 30802 UNIV NACIONAL PEDRO HENRIQUEZ URENA, SANTO DOMINGO, DOMINICAN REP 30803 UNIV CENTRAL DEL ESTE, SAN PEDRO DE MACORIS 30813 UNIV IBEROAMERICANA (UNIBE) ESC DE MED, SANTO DOMINGO, DOM REPUBLIC Let's see: a paltry $3,500 per semester, Calif- NY-and Texas, US practicing physicians since '70's...somebody tell me something to change my opinion that although UCE is not of the Big Four Caribbean Med Schools- it enables you to acheive your goal: become US MD ! Hey rules.......you're right. UCE is a fine school and is accepted in 50 states. The school our "antagonist" Taki is referring to was CETEC...I also beleive there were two other schools that were closed for selling degrees. The information can be found on CA board's website. To the point............someone mentioned State school's in Quito, Ecuador? I am assuming that is a Spanish program?

My father handed me a copy of the most recent Cuban American Medical Association of Miami conference program and UCE grad doctors and surgeons accounted for over 1/3 of the presenters!!! Many of whom are now faculty or department chairs in some very good hospitals.

UCE doesn’t make you a doctor, persistent study does.
I’m from Miami and have worked as an ER Nurse for some time, I had the privilege of working with some of the best internist I know (graduates of UCE) Raul Portela, Rene Rodriguez, two excellent physicians. I know the UCE of today is not the UCE they attended 20 + years ago, but it doesn’t really matter. My personal opinion is that the student who is persistent in his studies will obtain the necessary knowledge to pass the USMLE and be a great physician. UCE requires that discipline. One could receive a degree from UCE and not know a thing about medicine but I know he would never reach the goal (US residency training). Good luck to all. I agree Taki needs to grow up.
