Starting Unibe in May '06 ....looking for others.
Hi all,
The application process for Unibe was lenghty but fair and not at all difficult. What took the most time was tracking down old Professors for the letters of recommendation and obtaining my Transcrips from my Colleges and University. (One of my schools made an error in my transcript and it took 3 months to fix!) I initially planned to start in January but I did not have all my documents in place by the deadline. Instead of sending an incomplete application (which is a surefire way to get denied) I waited for the next semester. I was accepted for the May semester and I'm looking for any other applicants that are starting school then. All of my pre-med transfers were accepted and I will start directly in the Medical program. If anyone that is starting in May wants to contact me to share info., fears, questions, advice, meet up for coffe in Santo Domingo Thanks and good luck to all Last edited by Lufega : 03-17-2006 at 01:48 AM. |

I sent it from a Doctor. It wasn't easy to obtain but talk to every doctor that known you. From your Dentist to your PCP. Usually it's best if you write it for them that way they can't say no. Good luck!

Hey man, good to see you got accepted and all. I´m in Santo Domingo right now. I flew down to check out the campus, ask what books I was to use. They wont tell you what books you need until the semester starts. I had to track down some students on campus for that info. I hear the Premed classes are a waste of time and that it´s better to do them at home. About apartments and stuff, they have a student affairs office that handles that. Call the school and get the number. Sorry I don´t have it handy.

Might I suggest you contact Elizabeth Farrell the Unibe Director of Student Affairs. student_affairs@unibe.edu.do
I am sure she can be of assistance. I usually advise first time students to rent an apartment at an apart-hotel. There are many and some are close to the school. An apart-hotel is basically a studio type apartment (some have one bed room) that is completely furnished with everything you need and comes with maid service. The nice thing about this arrangement is the fact you do not have to sign a lease. They rent by the week or month and that will give you time to decide where you would like to live and to select a room mate if you desire one. They usually have cable television and phone service and security. Don't panic; everything will be fine I am sure.
