Thread: applying to Ireland

anyone going to or is attending any medical school in Ireland right now? how hard is it to get in? i'm sending in my application in a few days and its going to be $300! is this worth it??

If you haven't already done so, I would recommend that you check out the Europe forum at forums.studentdoctor.net There are quite a few people from Irish med schools that post there.

I'm thinking of applying to the American Bridge Program but have a few concerns. I would love to chat with US students currently enrolled in the program. Maybe you could *enlighten* me!

There are a few issues. First I'm wondering about what my chances will be at obtaining a good residency in the US. I heard that residency is much like any other job hunt - it's has alot to do with who you know. So wouldn't it be wiser to go to an international school that allows for clinicals to be done in the US? Such as AUA???

My other concern is the age factor. I'm 26, and am wondering what the student body is like. Will I be taking classes with many others around my age or will I be in the minority?

I'd love to hear from students at all four schools!

they're very good schools but 5-6 years rather than four depending upon your background. RCS may be 4 but the others state ones longer.. Having dinner tonight with a grad so ill ask.

You better be competitive stat-wise if you are going through American Bridge. If you can get into those schools you most likely can get into SGU, or DO school, or perhaps even a US med school like Kansas or South Carolina.

Now somebody will post "you don't know that, I know somebody who got in with an MCAT of 13....
