Thread: Residency in UK Recognized by Canada?

Hey Everyone,

I was just wondering if i completed a residency in the UK, would it be recognized by Canadian Licensing Authorities (More specifically Ontario). Basically if i do my residency in the UK must i repeat it if i wish to practice in Canada?

In general not, but you will need to sit the various exams (LMCCs and Royal College of Canada specialty exams) to get licensure.

Basically, to practice in Canada you need to satisfy the requirements of:

The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada
The College of Physicians and Surgeons of [whatever province you're in]

They have their certification / licensing requirements on line - just browse through.
