Thread: Transfer to Euro scool need help

To anyone who can answer I will greatly appreciate it, I am currently a student at AUA and I was really hoping to transfer(due to personal experiences). I am looking to transfer into a European school (not any one of those unrecognized ones) but a deceint one. I have completed basic and am about to sit for the USMLE, but am hoping to start rotations at the school I transfer to. I was wondering if anyone can give me some suggestions as to good Euro schools (preferably in UK,Ireland,Swiss,Belgium) (and even a list of some Euro schools that do some rotations in the states) for a US student like me to apply to without haveing to completly start basic sciences over again, as I have mastered it On my own already.

I won't be sarcastic, however I will be honest. Although people may disagree with what I have to say, you will not be able to transfer into a medical faculty in the UK, Ireland, Switzerland or Belgium. The reasoning for this is relatively simple, generally speaking, if you are a US student who couldn't get into medicine in the US (no disrespect to yourself), you will have very little chance in these countries; as competition for places to study medicine, via transfer or otherwise, is fierce.

Also, due to the fact that the AUA MD programme is a 4 year course (?), you may find that the schools who are actually willing to accept you as a transfer, may well require you to repeat particular courses.

As Chemist-11 said you are very very unlikely to succeed in transfering to any of those countries (even starting ab initio in those places is competitive and med. schools the world over are chary of transfers - unless they're a third tier Carib. school desperate for the business).
Assuming that you want an English language course (which rules out Switzerland and Belgium) you might just have a chance with Poland. Unlike the other European schools with special English courses they have some 4-year MDs., rather than 6-year. I would start your search there; although even with Poland I wouldn't hold out too much hope.
As an afterthought - Ireland recently introduced a few 4-year courses for which foreigners are eligible and the Irish have a traditionally taken quite a few Nth. Americans. Again though, I think the chances are slim. Irish courses are also quite expensive.

Thanks for the input so far. To correct your statement, I am not one of those students who failed to get accepted to a US school(graduated with 3.79 cum, ok MCAT first time, got cocky and sucky MCAT the 2nd), anyway I never even applied to a US school cuz I panicked at my 2nd MCAT score. The only reason I went to AUA was out of ignorance in the not knowing of what are the good schools(still kicking myself),other than that knowing what I know now I would do things different. Anyway I'll try Poland and Ireland and if you guys know of any other English speaking schools please let me know, as I am willing to sacrifice a couple of courses for a good education(I'm not here just to be an MD quick).

Why are you transfering? Why not just finish?

Have you thought about seeking a transfer to another caribbean school?

I thought about it, but I am kind of thinking about living in Europe(trust me I know there are loop holes). As for another carib school, well for the most part I am really not tryiing to go to another carib school, believe me I knew nothing about med admissions process back then and like I said made some ignorant mistakes settling at the first school I got accepted to and not even trying for greater ones just because I "was" engaged at the time. Anyway I'm trying to fix that now... no more carib!!!!!
