Residency in Ireland

Hi I'm finishing my academic studies around september of this year and I was wondering if there's anyone who can give me some more information about doing the residency in Ireland. Is it difficult for Europeans to get a place? Are there any exams needed? I've already written the Medical Counsil but no answer so far.
