Thread: Atlantic Bridge Program

I want to apply to RCSI, UCD, and Trinity College. In applying to RCSI, they directed me to apply through the Atlantic Bridge program and I saw that I can apply to all these other schools through them too. Has anyone ever used this program? Is it decent? Does it take a long time for them to forward everything to the schools and take a while to get a decision? Any information would be appreciated?

I was just wondering if anyone has herd from any of the schools they applied for through the ABP? I applied in november and suppose to get a reply by Jan Feb. Anyone get a reply back from them??

I go to Trinity in Dublin, getting into these schools is not a joke, its not like the Caribbean schools which take all the screw ups. You will need a 3.5 GPA or better and a 30 MCAT to even have chance of getting into a school in Ireland.

So what is the timeframe for acceptance? WendyMBBS - when did you hear from Trinity? How about classmates - when did they hear? I applied there and it is my first choice but I know from what I read the wait can be long...

I don't think anyone would compare the Irish schools to the Caribbean ones. If they do, they have not done their research!

I sent my application in November 2006, I started this past year. Its best to send your application as soon as possible, AB's deadline is usually March. Admission is quite competitive, in a way its kind of scary how many qualified students don't get into North American medical schools.

is there any scholarships or financial aid for international students who wants to study in ireland schools like rcsi or trinity.

How competitive do you think you would be graduating from an Irish med school in gaining residency in Canada versus a good caribbean school?

It will tell you what you need to know and do if you want to come back to canada and do your residency. There are links to websites that will tell you how irish grads are treated with respect to placements. From what I've read it seems that it is just as competitive to get a resisdency spot in Canada or the US as it will be to get an intern position in Ireland after you finish.
