I'm afraid I've got bad news for you (though I'm surprised you hadn't heard a whisper of this already). Since March 2006 non-EU citizens wishing to practise in the U.K. have to get a work permit which will only be given if it can be shown by the employer that there are not local candidates who can fill the vacancy. Since then it has been estimated that several thousand doctors, mostly from India and Pakistan, who had come here looking for a job have left without finding one.
It seems that the days of the U.K. taking large numbers of medics from South Asia are over. Do a Google search for more info. on this sad topic.
