Thread: Medical Schools In Ireland

Dear all,
Hi, I'm a student from US and currently residing in Dublin, Ireland due to spouse relocation. I'm applying to Med. colleges in Dublin (ie: Trinity, University College Dublin, UC Cork, Galway) Does anyone has more info. on these Medical Schools? I have gathered some general info. on these school and visit these school in person.....they are awesome!
I need reassurance that they are really reputable as they claimed they are. Also, I was told by an advisor from RCSI that most N. American students (previous grads) manage to get their 1st choice of residency back in the States after completing the course..... How about students who will be graduating from the 4 other schools listed above, will they also stand a good chance of getting their 1st choice of residency back in US?

I have no idea regarding residencies in the US etc. But my sister studied at RCSI, and i know some freinds from the UK at Cork and UCD.

All irish medical schools are world class in terms of the their standards and reputation. In my view Irish medical education ranks with the best US and UK medical schools.

Well, I'd believe that if I saw a residency match list from RCSI. So far, I haven't seen one. However, the school has a very good reputation (I'm not entirely sure that it is deserved.)

If you do go, know that it is probably the most expensive off-shore medical education that money can buy, at least nowadays considering the strength of the Euro.

A better source of info than this forum is the UK and Ireland forum on SDN, where you'll find quite a few students from those schools.
