Thread: royal college of surgeons in ireland

Hopefully someone can help me. I want to go to the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, but Ihear that since I am from the US it will be extremely difficult for me to get in. I have a bachelors degree from the UPenn in Chemistry, and I will be finishing a master in applied Molecular Biotechnology. My grades are average, nothing spectacular AT ALL. I have about an 81%, like 3.1 g.p.a. What are my chances to get in? Has anyone heard about this college and how non-EU applicants fare? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have been told that this school is ultra- competitive to get into.

hi i am an irish student at medical school in ireland(not rcsi),so i know the irish system,as an american and from what u say ur credentials are i would say u have a very good chance,u penn is ivy league isnt it? 3.1 gpa would be acceptable. rcsi accepts 75% of its students from overseas and a lot of these come from the us and canada,the only thing is u will still have to provide mcat scores and fulfill the same requirements that us medical schools have for admission.as a non eu student u will have to pay non eu fees which are about $21000 a year.check out their website www.rcsi.ie and www.atlantic bridge.com,if u are applying for 2004 then i think the closing date is february 15th 2003.
