No problem. We are just attempting to prevent what happened with another unnamed school that caused the mods and system admin's lots of headaches. However, I would encourage you to e-mail imed and post the results in their forum.

Senior Executive Vice President/Provost

I'm writing to clear up any confusion regarding the FAIMER/IMED listing. This is not an accreditation process - it is merely a listing of medical schools that have gone through a bona fide accreditation process, received that acknowledgement from the appropriate accrediting agency on the island which in turn has notified FAIMER/IMED of the accreditation decision.

Trinity University School of Medicine was granted full accreditation by the National Accreditation Board of St. Vincent and the Grenadines and that decision has been sent to FAIMER/IMED. FAIMER/IMED does not list any medical school until it has officially begun classes - so the listing will not appear until the September class starts.

This fact will have no bearing on Trinity students being able to sit for NBME course comp exams or overall comp exams or register to sit for the USMLE Step 1, 2 or 3 or to register for the NRMP.

Fortunately a large number of students have elected to apply to TUSOM - fully aware of our accreditation status (and the fact that it is forthcoming) but making the choice based upon our exciting curriculum, the small class size (that we are limiting), the fine teaching hospital on the island and other distinctions that will distinguish us from other medical schools.

It's probably time to bury this tired argument but if anyone has any questions and desires more specifics about our accreditation status, you are welcome to contact me at my email address listed on the web site. We welcome all questions and inquiries.

with all due respect, this has been cleared up and by someone who has no stake in Trinity.

and this IMHO has been recognized by the people here on VMD- and is commendable on trinity's part.

and again with all due respect, asking people from refraining from posing comments and asking questions about a new, yet untried school on a public forum is NOT the role you should play here--the last such school official that decided to take this tack (RL from CMU) did so to the detriment of his own and ultimately his school's credability--and I am NOT saying that Trinity is another CMU - but your role here Dr. Clutter should be to answer questions and post information- not to make comments about what should or should not be posted here.

and again, i say this will respect- i remember meeting you when i interviewed at Ross and realize that you have been in this industry for quite some time and that you and your partners are quite capabile of making this school a repectable one- but realize that ANY new school in the caribbean will come under scrutiny...stay objective and a few steps back and trinity will no doubt survive and blossom.

I would think that the lack of listing on IMED does have a bearing whether Trinity students can write the USMLE.

Also, I looked over the curriculum on the school's website and I, unfortunately, did not feel the excitement. I wonder what I missed??

Ah did you read the memo from IMED in the above posts prior to dr C's reply? If you had you would see that IMED is pending for this school with verification that instruction has begun.
