How about a local newspaper article on the opening of this new school?
Or, an announcement on the government website? I would think that a new medical school on this island (St. Vincent) would be big news to the 125,000 residents. Anybody come across one? |

valueMD policy regarding schools with IMED Pending....
CMU's forum was closed because its IMED application is pending. To be consistent, it would seem that valueMD should apply the same standards to Trinity U (i.e., the forum should be closed until it is IMED listed).
I don't see why valueMD needs to be in the business of policing the IMED status of schools; however, if you do have a policy, you should apply it consistently. |

Shouldn't this also apply to Dr. Ross's latest venture - UMHS? It doesn't have IMED either - just declarations that everything is going according to plan.
Personally I didn't think that VMD had such a clear-cut policy on this. They gave the impression that the CMU forum was closed largely because it had become so abused - flames/trolls/defamations etc., and that IMED listing would be the ad hoc measure of when it could be safely restored to these hallowed pages from its current limbo.

However, there's still a difficulty in so far as even CMU finally got a letter (published on their website) which appeared to grant a charter and assure IMED listing. I know there were many doubts and queries about that, but they could argue it's every bit as good as (or even better than) a newsletter article about "an agreement to charter.....subject to accreditation". Disputes about what constitutes adequate credentials pre IMED could go on forever. Not that I generally want to compare UMHS with CMU

IMED status for UMHS and TUSOM
I just wanted to comment on this since the issue has been brought to my attention.
VMD is very strict about who advertises on the site as well as which schools have forums. In fact, VMD continuously rejects significantly more applicants that it accepts...by far. This is based on several criteria, but I'll only address the IMED listing since that is the one which is in question. For an International Medical School to be accepted for advertising and/or have a forum, one of the criteria includes being listed in IMED. Some very occasional exceptions have been made for some new Universities/locations which are pending approval. In some of these rare cases, VMD may allow a reasonable amount of time for the approval process to take place given that documentation can be provided upon request showing things are moving along as expected. However, since this is merely a courtesy, VMD reserves the right to suspend the banner/forum at any time, especially if no progress has been shown towards getting this approval finalized. Most people forget that CMU was given plenty of time to prove this, but failed to provide the necessary documentation within a reasonable amount of time....hence the suspension of the CMU banner and forum. In fact, CMU can still be reinstated if/when they are listed in IMED. UMHS and Trinity will both be given this same opportunity while their respective administrators work on getting these new schools listed in IMED. I understand the skepticism that goes along with a school that is not yet listed in IMED. By all means, you have every right to question their legitimacy and ask questions accordingly. However, I sincerely hope and expect that everyone will do so in a professional manner and provide the School Officials with common courtesy and respect while they work hard to provide the answers you seek. VMD already has UMHS School Officials participating on the site and available to answer your questions. We will also try to have some participation from Trinity Univeristy School Officials as well in the near future. Please welcome their participation as they'll be your best source for official information from their respective schools. Thanks for your cooperation. p.s. Pending IMED listing, we'll be adding their IMED status as "pending" on their general info pages so there is no further confusion.

I shudder to think of all those rejected applicants, some of the accepted ones are dubious enough! Quote:
