Since there have been no changes in the last couple of months, and there wont be until January, I still dont understand why there is this discussion of "no Caribbean grads will be licensed in Texas"...

I have had discussions with people on the licensure committee, RECENTLY, and with no changes being made lately, how is any of that possible? For those saying no new off-shore med grads will be licensed, please come forward and elaborate a bit on why you're saying this. Thanks.
I've had several phone calls from attorneys who are contemplating whether to try and license their clients since earlier board meetings. Be glad to introduce you to one of them if you would like to question them..email me privately. az skeptic

Thanks for everything, Dean. I did get your pm, also. I understand how one might want to wait until the fog clears before attempting licensure there. It makes sense that you'd want to get it right the first time, rather than having to work harder to prove your case later, including in another State.

If anyone has further information, please share it!

Jules

Thank you in advance.

Board Meeting in January?

Thank you for the site, Azskeptic. I looked at the site, but I did not find any information about the anticipated January 2005 board meeting at which the Caribbean schools will be discussed. Sorry

Wow, you spoke at the August Meeting? Was it the closed session? I hope you spoke favorably of Ross University . Where there any Ross University officials present? What "vibe" did you sence from the Texas officials?

Thank you very much azskeptic!

Texas Board

I recommend to you, that you write all your questions down and then have the paper and pen in front of you, and make a call to the Texas Board. The people who answer the phones there will claim to be "able to help answer your questions" ...but ask for the licensure department. I believe they field questions between 1-2pm. You can ask for Denise Meyer, or anyone in that department. Denise is very busy, and doesnt go into depth in her responses so be prepared with all your questions...

The meeting scheduled in January is their licensure meeting. My understanding is that this is one of their regularly scheduled meetings, which happen very infrequently. This is where any changes would be made to their licensure requirements and so on. But they arent available to read online until the following September.

Make sure you've completely read the website with the sections that pertain to your licensure there. Highlight the sections that you are unsure about if you need to.

And be sure to return here and let us know what you discovered!!!!

Jules

Ross

The Licensure Committee of the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners will discuss Ross at its October 7th meeting. Minutes of the meeting will be available shortly thereafter.
