Great News for Georgia Hopefuls!!!

I have seen all the talk about FMG and licensing in their prospective states!

I spoke with the Medical Board of Georgia this morning and found out some VERY interesting information!

1) Georgia only requires 60 hours of undergraduate work

2) Georgia has NO pre-med reqs (as far as 2 semester of organic etc)

3) Georgia Medical Board wants to see 3 things from a FMG
A) Passed Step I, II, & III
B) Passes Step III within 3 attempts
C) 3 years of residency training

The man I spoke with, Jeffery, was one of the directors @ the Georgia Composite Board of Medical Examiners

Just thought I would share this information with you!!

Thanks!

Matt

sounds nice....but that still doesnt mean "the great state of Georgia" is IMG friendly.

its actually one of the tougher states to get into. Those who have, had alot of pull. You need to pass step 3...which you take after residency. Most non american citizens take thier Step 3, to improve thier chances of matching.

Re: GA

Just make sure that your US clinicals are Green Book. I was asked to sent in a copy of my passport (I'm USIMG) I guess to make sure you did go to the country where the school was located. You also have to list the places of your clinical rotations (US and foriegn). If in the US, again, they will need to be Green Book and they will need to be verified. Good Luck!
