Licensing and transfer credits from a closed school

I have a question that I need someone whose knowledgable about state licensing, especially NY/NJ, to answer.

What if you transfer to a NY approved caribbean medical school and the school accepts all your credits from a medical school that has the potential to close? When applying for licensing in NY or NJ, will there be a problem? Also, since transferring to a NY approved medical school, will there be problems with doing all your rotations, residency, and licensing in the state of New York? Some have told me once you transfer and and the school has accepted your credits, you dont have to deal with the school you transferred out from. I've gotten very vague answers for these questions, please be direct.

Don't you think asking the NY or NJ state licensing board would be your best bet? Here you're likely to get incorrect or conflicting information. I wouldn't put all my eggs in one basket based in information from an anonymous message board. Especially when it comes to something as important as a medical education. If it turns out this is going to cause you problems in the future, you may consider starting your studies over again... if it's worth it to you.

Yes, you will definitely need to deal with your old school that has closed. You will need official transcripts from your old school at the time of your licensing application. Your new school cannot serve as a "depository" for your old school's transcript.

You will also need to deal with FCVS -- many states, includding NY, require FCVS profile for IMG"s. FCVS requires official transcripts from each individual school you are seeking credit. If your old school has closed for good, FCVS MAY accept UNOFFICIAL copies of your old school's transcript from your new school -- but it will diligently mark it as such (only transcripts directly from your old school can be considered "official," copies from your new school does not count) -- and your FCVS profile will have a red flag reported ("unable to verify from primary source") -- don't know how state boards will treat this -- some may accept it, some may not. I wouldn't want to bet my career on it personally.
