If you do an integrated surgical residency, are you trained in general surgery too?
If you do a residency in something like ortho or neurosurg that is an integrated surgical residency (you don't have to do a general surgery residency first and then a fellowship), are you still considered to have been trained in general surgery?
For example, is any fellowship that requires a general surgery residency first, also open to orthopaedic surgeons? |

No. You have to be board eligible in GS before you can do a fellowship such as CT or colorectal. Ortho will qualify you for spine, hand, etc. |
