Can someone provide me details regarding student accomodation and the books needed for the first semester?

Nice to hear that. If you have done all the procedure, I am sure they have given you contact info about your accomodation and all. Just contact to that person for your best interest at this moment. And when you get down here, you can make a decision by your own. That's what I have done. About the book, since it's expensive to ship stuff in here, you shold get your book from US and bring it in with you. That's safer and you can save some money as well that way.
