I am a current student here...
Ask me any questions you have about the school!
Here are my first impressions... I was SO nervous when they were interview me. My GPA was 2.5 but i got a 37 on my MCAT...I was pretty nervous that I might not get in because of my GPA. They called me to scheduole my interview and I was literally shaking I was so nervous...here is how the interview went Him: "What attracted you to our school" Me: "I really like the program you established, and I like how your pogram is set up, and it would be a honor for me to come to the school" Him: "Your GPA is a little low" Me: "I know but I think my MCAT is fairly good" Him: "How will you be paying for your education" Me" "My parents will fully support me" Him: "Congradulations on being accepted!" Man I was so happy. This was the first school I applied to and I got in! I was so so so so so excited! Anyways I got to the island a couple days ago and its well differnt I am guessing all offshore med school seem this crappy and shady, right??? Anyways ill be seeing you all in clinicals in a couple years! |

Not sure about your interview, but mine was similar. However, I was also asked about my plance for the future, why I wanted to do both the MD and PharmD programs my being use to or ever having traveled outside the country and lived for an extended period of time, my hobbies and if I had any interest in scientific research and scholaraly publications. We then went through my undergrad transcripts and I was asked to detail each course. Yes, the last question was my ability to pay out of pocket or the need for aid stuff but by no means was the only q.
My interview was 45 minutes. Since here, the program is challenging, the exams are rough and their seems to be a sincere committment to making the program better each day. My thoughts opinion only........not sure who the person is who posted above but **** be thankful you have a school who can get you where you want to be. Lord so many people put such a negative twist and turn and then do nothing but moan and complain. JUST STUDY dude once your first term grades are posted we can talk again. |

Since St. Theresa is a business, like all other Carib medical schools except UWI and the Cubans, I think it's fairly obvious that they'll ask if and how the customer will pay for the product.
Apart from that, I would personally NEVER apply to a school which has ZERO track record in delivering the ultimate goal: Working as a physician in the chosen specialty and being fully licensed in the state of choice. |

Now Let me Understand This:

It is interesting to note the above and other posts about this. However, the earl dude above talking about the interview can be found in nearly all of the forums on here....saying similar and rather ridiculous things. I dont think his comments since they are WIDE spread on every forum including the so called big three are worth noting......Just my take on it........ |

you are WRONG. the NIH and research grants do not "support" the school. they fund research and research only and not a single penny goes to pay for lectures in basic science, anatomy lab etc. ever submitted a grant proposal? it has an extremely detailed budget analysis with it. so reasearch funding is great for the PhD's doing it but means nothing financially to the basic science or undergrad students and their curricula...it does give the school bragging rights though for example UI gets 60 million, behind very few others like UW (having bill gates giving them his spare change helps) and Harvard...

RROD is Right
Have been on Government grants before. The NIH grants are looked at with a fine tooth comb by nasty govenment auditors. If they find anything out of order you can kiss your future grants good by. They are for research, if your results are not presented correctly and such - you can kiss it good by also. Most schools have a grants department to make sure the schedule is followed, results are tabulated and money is not misused.
