Vet school

Just wanted to know how the Vet school is going. I would have posted this on the Vet board but doesn't look like it get's used very much at this point. How many people are in the first class?

We had twenty students in the first class, and we are looking forward to their progression and the new class in January.

Sounds good. I hope all the vet students are doing well. It takes a special type of person to charter a class.

LOL...JTP, again you have me in stitches!! Although I don't think the vet students are the problem. Although, I'm all for rivalry...so if me saying they smell causes a rumble...I'm in!!

Come join us in cayman and your degree is guaranteed. The professors are so scared of losing their jobs that they will do anything to let you pass. The island is beautiful and safe.

"Letting" you pass won't get you prepared for the NAVLE and CPE

all up to you!

You are right, an easy curriculum does nothing for your preparation, but the fact is that courses are really simple, and getting easier every term.

Unfortunately, even if you knew everything you needed to know, you still need a degree before being allowed to write the boards. Unless you are in the top 10% here you will not know enough to pass the boards, that is for sure. So, whether you pass the boards or not is totally up to you and meanwhile, you can consider your degree here nothing more than the admission fee for the board exams.

Wow...unsettling!

I know that St. Mat's new vet anatomy prof and dean of students (i think) is now there and he is not the type of person to let anyone slide by. Hopefully things will begin to change if what you say is true.

The person I am referring to was at St. George's for a few years and is a great, great teacher but can also be very, very challenging.

Yea, I've heard about Dr. T. I think he used to be on the faculty at A&M. If he was colleagues with A&M's Dr. R, which I'm sure he was, anatomy will be anything but easy. All they need is a few aggies down there to teach these kids

That is pretty unsettling to hear stevie's comments though. But maybe he's just one of those exceptional students who find anything easy. My undergrad degree was terribly hard and a lot of my friends acted like it was extremely basic. So who knows.

But I do agree that passing the boards is mostly up to the individual. I've been studying the Merck Veterinary Manual lately, and have been told it's a great study source.

I remember hearing a lot of bad things when SGU first started, so I think it's normal to hear the same things about St. Matthew's until it gets a few more years under its belt. I'm starting in a couple of weeks so I'll be sure to update the forum after I have a semester or two completed.

Good luck everyone!
