The first vet class started with 20 students on August 29th. Vet admissions are also on a rolling basis, and we will accept our next class in January.
Congratulations, all!

What type of grades and experience are you looking for in getting accepted into the program. I do not have any experience, would this make a difference in my application.
Also, if someone can tell me some pros and cons about the school. Any information would be helpful! |

Just as in the School of Medicine, the School of Veterinary Medicine looks at the application as a whole.
I will say that a lack of any animal experience will hurt your chances of admission. I do not know where you are located, but common sources of pre-vet hands-on experience include: Shadowing vets Volunteering at a zoo, state park, or wildlife refuge Working with animal rescue groups Working part-time in a stable or a livestock centered agricultural facility, or even with aquaculture Good luck, and thanks for your interest in SMU!

thanks for taking the time to help me out.
Could there still be a possibility of getting in without any animal experience? Are there any students right now or any previous students who have been accepted despite their lack of animal experience. |

The short version is no, there is no one in the School of Veterinary Medicine without animal experience.
The long version is that pre-vet animal experience is critical. Before you spend the thousands of dollars involved with becoming a vet, you owe it to yourself to make sure that is something you want to do every day. A little experience and delay now could end up saving you a lot of debt later. However, if you enjoy the experiences and feel that this is the vocation for you, we would be more than happy to review your application. Have a good one!
