I can confirm that as of right now, SMU students will NOT be granted a temp (limited) license for residency in Mass. Obtaining a Full license after residency is a possibilty as it has been done by someone had done their residency in Rhode Island.

I know for a fact that they are actively working to fix this. Paperwork was filed and the proper process is underway. It looks like it will go through for the following year (2009 match) but nothing is guaranteed.

The reason given was that no applicant wanting to be in Mass has ever had a program intersted in them (to inquire to the Board of Registry).
The Board in Mass did not have the correct information about our school.
The updated information has been submitted and they Board has not yet reviewed it. We are in the process of waiting for the decision. This will happen sometime after the large annual meeting of all the states Board of Registry members hold. (which is in Texas this year)

Massachusetts's Board of Registry makes their decisions once a year and those decisions are FINAL. I was told by a close family friend that is on the Board that "Even if our decision is wrong and the supreme court tells us to change it, we won't." Its the old school, esoteric attitude of the Board.
From my understanding, it was a misunderstanding about the specifics of our school rather than an informed decision.
They are on top of getting it fixed right now so keep your fingers crossed and hope it goes through. It looks like it most likely will. I have spoken to many members that have been and some that are currently on the Board and I am optimisitc. These people are personal friends that have no interest in fluffing the situation or lying to me.
As long as the school continues to pursue this matter with the intesity that they are currently doing, I think it will work out.

Which states are we not allowed to get an initial residency training license besides the obvious cali, vermont, tennessee, indiana, new mexico, idaho, kansas, north dakota and massechusetts now?..I'm not great at math but that leaves about 41 states to do residency in unless there are more..I know that in some states we can do residency but not get licensed which is slightly retarded ..Anyone one know if our school is doing anything to prevent the onslaught of states either not allowing us to get licensed or do residency?...

guys... i dont want to drop a bomb here or anything, but i do think its important to bring up.... maybe its a mistake and it was discussed and my apologies if it was already...... but i just found a link to michigan and it looks like they no longer will accept st mattews grads for getting licensure. i dont get it, didnt smu have clinicals in michigan for a while? is it possible that this is what pushed them out and not simply just ross outbidding them?

st george university international is not the sgu that you are referring to.... its a knockoff that is also included on oregon's disapproved list. st george university school of medicine does not appear on this list.

other carib/offshore schools on the list,

cmu, spartan, st theresas, university of st eustatius, university of health sciences antigua, st lucia college of medicine, st chris, st lukes, oum, MUA-nevis and belize.

very weird.... i dont think smu's match list is up this year, im going to check mua-nevis and statia's list to see if anybody matched in michigan.

edit: it appears mua had a few matches in michigan. i wonder if there is a way to find out if there are any fully licensed grads in michigan outside of residency.
