[quote=Baditude;643903]I would love to see Washington state or Oregon open up as options. I am from Michigan but I hope to move out to the pacific northwest as soon as I can .....hopefully for residency.
[quote] Oregon would be sweet. Great place to live and no sales tax! |

Beebopash- There is no need to be so hostile as there were a lot of things posted on this site before you ever started posting here.
If I am not mistaken it was posted on this site a couple months back. Also Dr.N told me to my face that they were working on getting them back sometime this year. He told me this before I left GC in August of last year.

Ok I was very much uplifted by Baditude comment that Dr N had told him personally that SMU are working towards getting California by the end of this year. I have just realized that you should never trust people’s word until you see the evidence yourself. Once I told my father about the fact that SMU can have California soon, he insisted on finding more about it and he eventually called California Medical Licensing Board and talked to Pat Parks. I know who Pat Park is and as there are two sides to any story, if SMU had been trying for California's approval she would surely be the person to know where they stand. According to Pat Parks, SMU is yet to apply for California again. My dad asked her if there is any limitation which restricts an unapproved institution from reapplying until a certain period of time. Pat's responce was no. She said if SMU wanted to reapply they could have reapplied any time, but ever since the disapproval there has been no contact from the school to California Medical Board. My dad asked her, is that because of a legal action following initial disapproval. And according to pat, there was a legal threat initially but never any legal action. She also added that SMU can apply for California now if they want but the whole proceeding can take up to 3 years and only students who enrol into the course after that, will be able to train, do residencies and apply for license. So according to Pat parks, if SMU applied for California again today; it will take a further 3 years till we eventually get it.
Now given all this, why are we being fed lies that the school is doing all it can to get California? That it’s only a matter of time when during all this time the school hasn't applied, not even been in touch with the California medical board? And why is it that we have school officials commenting on trivial questions on valuemd yet never focus on serious issues such as this. I have not really doubted SMU much and I have always believed that this is one of the better universities in the Caribbean, but why all these lies and deception? Given the current situation with clinical, I have also found out that SMU in some cases is not willing to pay more to secure clinical for students and that has led to them losing some places. (source http://www.valuemd.com/st-matthews-u...anta-ny-5.html Baditude comment...... Sorry I am singling you out; I am just making a point). I really hope that these issues are addressed soon by the school. I for one am appalled that as student we are expected to pay over $200,000 for our education at SMU, and be fed lies to like this. I really hope that someone brings this up at deans meeting etc and hey next time they tell you that they got California in the bag…give them hell. |

It is just a hard fact to accept that the university which claims to be going places, hasn't done a single thing in the past 2 and half year on the issue which affects it most.
Also I posted a new thread in smu forum but apparently its been moved here! |

I can only speak for what I was told and Dr.N repeatedly told my class and he also told me personally that it was in the works. Also Azsceptic posted on the main medical board or in the relaxing lounge something about the lawsuit awhile back and he is a very honest source for what is going on.
So I am not sure what to say at this point but I DO NOT make up rumors!
