SERIOUSLY EXCITING NEWS ON THE HOUSING FRONT!

An Exciting Announcement for Incoming St. Matthew's Students

On July 30, 2003 St. Matthew's University School of Medicine received notification that its purchase offer for a residence hall in Grand Cayman has been accepted. The only contingency is that the property must pass an inspection which will occur on the week of August 4th.

The facility is located on Seven Mile Beach approximately one and one half miles from the St. Matthew's University School of Medicine campus. It is in an excellent location and convenient to shopping, restaurants, fast food, and to downtown hospitals. The facility will offer housing for 75 single occupancy efficiencies and 40 double or junior suites to be rented for double occupancy.

The facility is a modern complex approximately 10 years old. It is on the beach side and contains beach access, a large in-ground swimming pool and built in Jacuzzi. Food services (breakfast and snacks) and coin operated washing machines and dryers will also be available. All rooms are air-conditioned, carpeted, with separate bathroom and dressing area. Each contains a study desk and a small refrigerator and microwave. Weekly maid service will be provided. Phones access (outgoing local calls or any incoming calls) will be available. No utility or phone deposits will be required and you will not have to set up separate accounts.

The rent per four month semester for a single will be $2,800 CI or $3,500 US. Electric and water will be charged additional as prorated by the number of rooms. Double rooms per four month semester will rent for $1,920 CI or $2,400 US, per person, double occupancy. The Junior Suite will rent per four month semester for $2,080 CI or $2,600US per person, double occupancy.

Availability will be on a first come, first serve basis and new entering students in September will be given first preference. All questions regarding housing should be sent to Sebastian Guilbard at smuresidence@smu.ky

If you wish to secure your housing at this facility please go on line at www.smuonline.com and download the application under the button for housing and fill it out, sign it, and fax it to Sebastian at
345-945-3130.

We are very proud of this new development. It is evidence of St. Matthew's University's continued effort to provide high quality facilities and student service.

An advance room deposit of $500 US will be required to secure your room for the fall 2003 semester. No residency space will be guaranteed as
reserved until the deposit has been received. Please make your deposit
checks payable to St. Matthew's University and mail to St. Matthew's University (Attention: Adriana), 1750 W. Broadway Avenue, Suite 222, Oviedo, Florida 32765.

new housing

A few questions:

1. Is there a kitchen area where one can cook? If yes, shared with how many? And will the maid service cover this kitchen area?

2. Will there be a shuttle service between this housing and the campus? If so, from when to when? And, how much extra in cost? If not, are the parking stalls included in the rent?

3. How secure do you think this place will be?

dt,

In answer to your questions;

1) There is a large, professional kitchen in the Hall. Using it would need to be worked out with the RH Staff.

2) Right now, we are not planning to offer a shuttle service. The Hall is only a mile and a half away from the campus, and with West Bay Road traffic, you'd get there faster by bike or foot anyway. There will be ample parking at the Hall.

3) We are of course going to be having staff available and out and about 24 hours a day. All of the rooms are off of an interior hallway, so nobody can just walk up and start fiddling with your door. It is well-lit and very public. Also, its recent construction means that it was built under current hurricane standards, meaning to withstand a Category 5 storm.

Also, KFC, Kirk's Supermarket, and the movie theatre are just some of the things within walking distance.

Always open to questions!

JP
