hey, i agree. after going on quite a few interviews at some "good" programs and being totally underwhelmed, and be blown away by the quality of some non-prestigious programs, you can see that there is a lot more to the residency program perception than meets the eye.

but, to come on here and try to talk up a placement based on the prestige of the program goes in the face of this. it was clear that the poster really thought something special was happening, based on the brand name. as rrod said, this is likely a great place to train, which is awesome. but, if you are going to brag about something, you are really just saying "hey, prestige matters to me!". and then when it turns out to be not so prestigious, it is tough to turn around and try to claim that prestige all of the sudden does not matter.

moral of the story: residency is great. but, the vast majority of us match in very good programs for our needs. if you want to brag on how much better your prestigious match is, it really had better be prestigious. otherwise you look kinda silly.

I agree with you to the utmost and I truely understand what the arguement is. If it's YALE then it's YALE, anything less than that just isn't YALE (period) and that can't be argued. What I'm saying is I'm just happy for this individual no matter what it is. I hope and pray to get a residency at a very prestigious place and I plan on doing my best to obtain that however, as we all know, being an fmg it's going to be a little hard (hence this thread) so I just wanna be happy with doing my best and want to be happy for every single other fmg that does their best. I hope to befriend every single one of you in some aspect if it's only as a valuemd associate.
