Green rotations

I have been reading about the lack of green rotations for SMU students. Is this correct? Also about 5th semester in the U.S and other schools allowing all core rotations to be in one city?
Can someone from SMU administration answer these questions? It would be important to know this information before applying or choosing SMU?

I am not an adminstrator, but I can tell you that you can do your core (green) in NY and Michigan, among other places. The talk here in not a lack of green rather that people want green rotations in other states.....If you are willing to move, you will do you green rotations no problem. If you are not willing to move, you can still do green in NY (ewww) or Michigan.

Nimmuk is correct. Also if your trying to decide on which school is going to be best for you then I suggest you give the school a call. Also talk to prior students at the school and if your able to, take a visit to the campus.

Come on now, don't offend the New Yorkers that post here. I am in the City right now, and had a change of heart. I can't wait to come back here.

Positives of NYC as a St. Matts student:

1- No need to have a car.
2- You can do all core rotations at ACGME approved sites (green)
3- Affordable housing can be found, you just need to look.
4- You can find restaurants that prepare all types of food from all nations under the sun. So those of you who have special dietary requirements (Kosher, Halal, vegetarian, etc) can be accomodated.
5- Can enroll in a Masters program in a University found in NYC. There are plenty of MPH and MHSA programs. This could mean getting Stafford loans while in clinicals!

I feel you....however, everyone is entitle to their own opinion.....

Anyways, I'll do what is best for me, and if takes going to NY, I'll go to NY and I'll do my best to enjoy NYC.

This is not true. According to the "school official" on the clinical message board there is not a single city in the US where you can complete all core rotations at ACGME acredited sites (Greenbook). There are some sites that have 4 or 5 but as it stands now everyone is going to have to change sites at least once if they want ot do all green. In addition, there is admin makes no guarentee that they will be able to get you into an ACGME acreditied rotation at a different site.

If you have a problem with it, go to another school and stop complaining....end of story.

I was not and have not complained about it. I have stated my desire that it were otherwise but it is something I have to deal with. I simply correcting the misinformation that you gave that stated that there were locations in the US where you could do all rotations "green." I would hate for anyone to thing think they can get all green in one place (based on your information) when it is not the case

hey

i have talked to the admin, and as far as green rotations go, if you are willing to move around, and even wait, if the case may be, you can do all green. At the end we have come this far, going in step further wont kill us.
