    Question residence hall?

Are students able to live on campus if they are married or do they have to live off campus? I know you can live on campus for up to 2 semesters, but it will be hard for me to find somewhere to live without actually seeing the places. So, I would rather live on campus with my wife if at all possible.
    Thanks?

From what I believe you can live in the RH as long as you don't have any kids or pets. You and your wife would be fine.

    housing

Please note that while St. Matthews does offer a Residence Hall, from what I have been told, it is not on campus. St. Matthews University School of Medicine is housed in a business park with buildings of several different companies. SMU occupies one of the buildings in this business park.

    Exclamation Hey dawgfan...

    Hey dawgfan,

First of all MitchDC is correct, the St. Matt's housing is off the actual achademic campus. It's about 2.5 miles down the road.

PLEASE, make sure you contact Sebastien before coming to the island with your spouse...YOU MUST MAKE THESE ARRANGEMENTS IN ADVANCE!! I've spoke with Sebastien on many occations about this and you MUST contact him before arriving on the island. You can find him at sguilbard@smu.ky

    Take care!

    Rh

That is true. The Residence Hall is about 2 miles from the actual campus. I started in May 2005 and my wife was with me. We started out living in the RH...Let me just start by saying that the RH is a great place to live for a single person. If I were single, the RH would have been great. Having said this, it is not that great a place to live for a married couple. If at all possible, I would try and find a place outside of the RH before you come. Everyone is different and you might be fine in the RH, but I know that my wife went crazy living there, and it was really difficult to study with 2 people in 1 small room.

Just to let you know...I have made these statements based on my experience in the Residence Hall and NOT the Residency Suites. The Residency Suites isn't completed yet and might be a whole different story (because it seems to be more like an apartment and less like a dorm).

Someone said the RH is $4100 per semester and includes everything. So is this rent, utilites, phone, internet? Is food included? Is there a restaurant or do you cook in your compartment.? Is there a shuttle back and forth, bus?

Everything except food and phone. You cook yourself or out..There is no school shuttle transporting students, rather, students eihter bike to school, walk to school, or drive to school.

    Lightbulb Surprisingly

Surprisingly people at the RH have been using the shuttle! Normally the shuttle stops coming due to lack of use. But this semester, it has been here every morning thus far. If you can rally the students to use it...it will be here.

I agree. The RH is not recommended for married couples. My 2 cents, is to go a few days early or even a week and get a hotel room and find a rental. You will be much happier living somewhere else. I am married so I speak from first hand experience but I did not live in the RH.
