    states lic.

I suggest that we take the matter into our own hands. There is a thread in an other forum that is doing this. check it out: I know Juni challenge students before to do something similar, so here is another challenge to all: No more silly board questions, do the work and post here.

According to Texas, we CAN do our residency in texas, but it really comes down to the program that you are applying to. Doesn't really matter about state licensure, just depends on the program or hospital that your applying too! Reason Im asking about Texas is because I know the dean of a medical school here in texas. He is a family friend and I used to shadow his brother who is a nuerosurgeon. I never asked him to get me into a US med school cause I didn't want him to think I was this spoiled rich kid who thought everything would be handed to me! So I never asked him for any pull, matter of fact I dont even think he knew when I applied to his school and got rejected. So, I was planning on going to a caribbean school, kicking some butt on my step 1 ande 2, and then come to him with something good in my hand and see if he can get me into a competative residency program here in Texas. HELL YEAH!
    Myxomatosis-

It all really depends in the macth. However, if you have any pull with the program director he can rank you high and thus, match there. Also, he can offer you a residency outside the macth, which is allowed for FMG's....and yes, you can do your entire residency there

    Just insert the state:

    To Whom It May Concern:

I am current student attending St. Matthews University School of Medicine in the Cayman Island. The school is listed with WHO and IMED. Students and Graduates are eligible to sit for the USMLE and thus, ECFMG certification. I have some questions that I hope you are able to answer:

Is St. Matthews University accredited by the state of Florida Board?

Can graduates of St. Matthews apply for Licensure?

If no, do you accept licensure by endorsement?

    What are the licensing requirements?

Can graduates of St. Matthews apply for Residency?

Can St. Matthews's students complete both cores and electives in the state of Florida?

Any information will be well appreciated

    Thank for in advance,

hey nummick. What do you mean by a residency outside the match? Does that mean my secondary choice?

    Myxomatosis-\

I dont think you understand the match process, which is ok. However, it is very imporant as many students go through medical school and find themselves without a residency. Please read the link provided below

As for signing outside the match, what happens is that a program director offers you a spot (residency) on the spot while in the interview trail. Just because you want a certain residency does not mean you will get invited. Some poeple aply for over 100 residencies and only are offer 2 interviews. That means you can only match in those two programs...See what I mean. Anyways, if you go to an interview, that is, the program offer you an interivew through ERAS, he can offer you that residency on the spot.

Residency placements for SMU graduates are clearly listed online at stmatthews.edu. You might want to check this out before you proceed.

However, there is no way to find out the date they matched. Ross, like Juni said, does provide the year they match.

    answer

Can graduates of St. Matthews apply for Residency?

Dates don't seem to be requested in this question which is why I pointed you to that link. If you contact the school, they should be able to provide you with actual dates which would still answer your question.

Mo, it is just easier to assign 10 states even if we know what is the outcome. So if you are interested do the next 10 states after Maryland. If you don't want to do New York, or New Jersey, substitute Guam and Puerto Rico. Most of the states' Medical Boards can be found in the directory of the FSMB at www.FSMB.org.

    Done

I just finished emailing all the State Medical Boards on my list, except for Louisiana, which is understandable. Thanks Nimmuk for the letter you posted, I modified it a bit, but it did sure save me time. Is anyone else going to join in our effort?
