I heard today that Atlanta and Chicago Clinical Rotation Sites will not be available for SMU any longer.
The only ones will be NY, MI and England
Is that true?
I know that AMC is changing their policy toward IMG's (info from a current student in rotations there)
Can SMU information comment on this?
This is not good, because how are they planning to accomodate all of the future clinical students, keeping in mind that the classes are growing DRASTICALLY (mine is over 160 students)
I love SMU and its a good school, but all these things worry me

We just had a meeting this evening with the people in charge of clinical rotations and there are still active rotation sites in Atlanta and Chicago. Apparently the rumors about Atlanta come from the fact the group in Atlanta that the school contracts with, GMC, is in negoitiation with one of the hospitals (AMC) under their umbrella. This in no way effects us or our rotations in Atlanta at this point. There is still a rotation site availble in Chicago with the caviate that you have to do all core rotations at that site.

As far as Atlanta, GMC and AMC are renegotiating their contract. The ongoing proceedings are not available to us but we are encouraged that this should resolve shortly. We keep in frequent contact with the leadership of GMC and trust that any known changes will be relayed to us. We have no plans at this time to change anything regarding GMC/AMC. At the moment that we know the final solution to their contract negotiations we will publish this for all students to see.

As far as Chicago, nothing at this point in time has changed.
