Jguru2, i never said that i needed i curve but maybe you didnt see what i wrote its 10 pts/exam and for 4 exams it adds up to 40 pts, lets c, if someone who had "H"(with 40 ptscurve) in neuro or anyother class is competing for a seat somewhere down the road will have an advantage over the person who had "HP" in the same class. so its all about being "fair" and i dont mind studying at all i knew what it takes to be an MD b4 i signed up for the school. SMU is a great school considering the period of its existence. it has some great things and some things that needs improvement. dont get me wrong because -/+ feedback will help the school. so instead of sugeting something to me you "all" should write to school, on ValueMD or email the administration.

I beleive that most of the negativity and crying "fairness" are those people who transfer from Ross. I love hearing all the success stories from SMU, not all this negative stuff. I studied hard helped my peers with what I could and earned my grades. Simple of that. Have a good one

It is good to know that you do not mind studying at all...and that might take you far into (our) common goal, that is med school...but the real question I ask myself is not NOT how far am I willing to go, but do I possess the constitution, the depth of faith, to go as far as needed.

Just a response...
Hey Fellow SMUers,
I just wanted to respond to one of the questions in the original post here. It asked why we're being charged $1300 to live in a single room with a roommate. Well, I've been told there are a few reasons. 1. Now that we have double the people living here than usual, the utility bills are off the page. 2. TONS of rebuilding has taken place because of Ivan, everything from the walls to the furnature has been replaced. 3. Becasue SMU had to double every room this semester, they had to take ALL the queen matresses out of the single rooms, purchase ALL NEW smaller matresses, and put them in the single rooms...not to mention ALL the bed frames. I know $1300 is a ton of money, but I guess it has to be done...maby I'm wrong, but that's just the way I look at it now. skidoc42

Just a few facts:
1. The neuro average was 85% that's without a curve or the 10pt boost of the past. So why are people still whinning? 2. The current physio prof has been with the school for nearly 2 years; funny its only this semester that has been making a stink. All the upper semesters had him and passed the course 3. Dr. M the prof that left this semester had averages around 55%. That is LOWER than the current guy. If he was here now, you would have been crying even more. When I took physio i would have loved old J to make all the tests, he was way easier the Dr. M If people don't like the rates at the residence hall move out. We are all adults (in theory) go find some thing. So much whinning is this place I'm starting to think it's pre-school. I am happy the school is making things harder; too many retards in this place. SMU gave you a chance when you couldn't get into an american school. If you can't make it here maybe you should not be in medicine. Just my 2 cents |

The current first time pass rate for the USMLE is 85% it has risen because the school is getting rid of the idiots that score a 25% on physio tests, and the losers that need a 40pt boost in Neuro.
Can you hear the cutting of the dead wood? chop!chop!! |

Re: Problems
The originator of this post, was asking for answers to many problems he or she had with the school. I do not have an answers for any of them.
But I just wanted to make my last remark on Physio. Yesterday in the sparsely attended "make-up class," the professor stated out of the 60 questions, the students should have been able to answer 40 of them with the material presented. Now maybe I misunderstood exactly what he was trying to explain to the class, but my question is, what about the other 20 questions on the exam? If anyone in the class was there, if I misinterpreted what he said please correct me? Thanks for your help. Everyone have a good weekend. Later |
