Sorry, neilc, but the prepositional phrase "recognized by" when referring to the USDOE makes it clear we are not referring to accreditation.
An alternative sentence using the same structure, "Barry Bonds, who plays for the Giants, is a large baseball player idolized by fans". The fans did not make him large. (I used to be an English teacher Again, other than the MCAT and GPA, factors in US medical school admissions are highly subjective. Also, I checked both Harvard's and University of Mississippi's websites. Both of them list the same general admissions criteria (with the exception of the MCAT). They also state that competitiveness is based on the quality of the applicant pool. U.S. committees also state that each decision is unique, just like at SMU. In addition, I forgot to include osteopathic schools. Of course we are selling, and are going to represent our school in the best possible light. This is to benefit both the students and the school, but we are not misleading anyone. Much of the wordage used in the letter is based on the NCFMEA's own documents. I agree with Mo's comments that SMU and the other schools on the NCFMEA list (and futre listees) should support each other in this. Hopefully this will be the year!

Whoops. I forgot to answer your question, Mo. If you contact the lobbyist at the email address in the letter, he'll get you to where you need to be in D.C.
Knock 'em dead!

Because you've shown such great interest in the welfare of SMU and Saba?

I doubt very much that SMU students "I have met the same competitive admissions standards as other medical students studying at medical schools in the United States". If this was the case they would be in the US school. That sentence should be taken out.
