Getting licensed in home state?

I made a phone call to the Virginia State Medical Board today and it made me a little nervous. I inquired about getting licensed in Virginia after attending either MUA-nevis or SMU. She ask if the schools were members of the WHO and I said yes.....the problem is no one has applied for a license in VA. as a graduate from either one of these schools yet. She said I can't really tell you what the the state board would want or require from you until people start applying from these schools. So I'm like what the hell....that tells me nothing basically. I'm not sure what to think. I ask her was there anything in writing or on line about this and she said no.
As anyone had a similar experience or can they shed some light on this for me.
I'm not about to shell out a ton of cash if I can't even get licensed in my home state.
Please help!!

Upon reviewing the Virginia Board's application, it appears that you have to list when and where you did your core rotations, but I can't find any mention of them needing to be "green" (although, if I were an earnest young medical student, I would do all greens to be on the safe side).

We do not have anyone that has applied for the unrestricted license in Virginia as yet. We had one grad doing a FP residency there, but he transferred into a PM&R program in Chicago.

Always contact the boards of the states you are interested in to make sure you meet their requirements (rotation choices, etc.).

Thank you! That sounds encouraging!
Did you find that application (info) on line. I didn't see it on their web site. I would really like to have that in writing....if you know what I mean?

You would look under the foreign graduates section...there's quite a few individual Word docs that you have to go through.

Have a good one!

Holy Smokes! That was a fast reply. I take it this is your job on a daily basis. I'm impressed! If the rest of the school is as attentive as you SMU will surpass the big three in no time. Keep up the good work....and thanks for the web address. Off to do more research....

It's kind of a shame that you don't get the little symbol thing that grows as you add posts. I think you should have a little talk with the management so that you get the credit you deserve!

Have a great weekend!

The other JP...

Thanks, other JP, but I'll be happy with the Ultimate if it ever gets here. I've been working on it for a little over a year and a half now, so that will be reward enough.

Plus I think the meter is to give you an idea of the person's authority to speak on the subject. I have the School Official title, for however much or little that is worth.

You have a good weekend too!

Now you could cheat and go to the test post area, but... I know, I know. That just wouldn't be the same. It's like anything else: you could cheat, but you're only cheating yourself!
