Clinicals in Florida
This is a question for JP or anyone else that can answer. Can all of the clinical rotations be done in Florida? And if they can, do you need to go to various clinical sites or is there a site, for example Orlando where you can complete all rotations?
Thanks |

For Florida-
You can do all of your cores at Florida Hospital in Orlando FP=Green IM, Psych, Surgery, OB/GYN, and Peds=Non-green Also, there is a green OB/GYN rotation at Sacred Heart Women's in Pensacola, and a Green FP at Tallahassee Memorial. JP

Sorry, It's a not completely green state for us. The areas you can do all of your green rotations without moving are Chicago, Saginaw, New York City, and the West Virginia Rural System. Also, you can do all of your cores as green in the same hospital at any of our sites in th UK or Ireland.

No problem. A green rotation is one in which there is an ACGME residency (the ACGME directory book has a green cover and is usually referred to as the Green Book) in that specialty. So, if there is an ACGME Pediatrics residency at the hospital you are rotating at, it's "green".
Some teaching hospitals do their instruction under the umbrella of one ACGME residency, usually Family Practice. Any rotations done in this way(other than the umbrella program itself) are non-green. A few states require that all of your third year rotations, or Cores, be green. Always check with the states that you are interested in practicing in to make sure you choose appropriate rotations. We have decreased the percentage of our non-green spots over the last couple of years, and plan on continuing to do so. Have a good one!

JP,
Thanks again for your very quick response. I promise one more question and I will leave you alone LOL. I want to practice in Florida and have gone to the department of health webiste for Florida but I can't find any information on requirements to be licensed in Florida. Do you know where I can find this information on the web? Thanks |
