QUESTION FOR SMU OFFICIALS AND TRANSFERS
This question is for the school officials and transfers, because I know there are quite a few transfers from Ross, and I heard ( which Im sure doesnt necessary mean that its true) that students who failed out from Ross or other schools, were accepted into SMU,
would SMU accept someone who failed classes at a different medical school? please clarify, this worries me |

Transfers
SMU does accept people who failed classes at other medical schools (up to the same 18 credit limit as SMU students). They are not given any credit for those classes, and must retake them at SMU.
That being said, SMU does seem to have a reputation as being the "haven" for fail outs from other schools. My answer to this is three parts. 1) We had two non-consecutive semesters in which we had a low number of first semester applicants, combined with a large number of transfer applications. We did accept those qualified students, some of whom had failed less than the 18 hour credit limit. 2) That if all of the transfers from some schools were fail outs, those schools would have amazing attrition rates. 3) The number of transfer slots available has been greatly reduced, as we are realigning to accomodate the first semester class.
